Will it work on Facebook, Glide, or any other social network?
Currently, you can use Signily via any social network that allows the copy/paste feature.
Facebook does not allow anyone to upload animated GIFs via status or comments at the moment. We predict Facebook will eventually bring back this feature because animated GIFs are getting more popular nowadays!
However, Twitter allows you to upload it as an attachment and you will see the animation.
Why can't the keyboard auto-insert the handshape(s) into my messages?
This is currently a technical limitation within Apple and Android APIs; therefore, copy/paste is the best alternative for the time being.
Do you plan to sell my data?
No, absolutely not! Any data we collect is to communicate directly with you or to enhance your user experience as we release updates.
In order to diagnose any errors or app crashes, Signily is able to detect the type of device and what was running at the time. We cannot see anything that directly identifies you. We cannot see the MAC address, unique device identified, IMEI or phone number.
Anything else that Signily has access is always with your consent.
Why are there two text fields?
We worked around Apple’s and Android’s limitations which require only English or any recognized written language.
Because emoji are GIF-based, we added another text field so you can compose your message in ASL fully without sending one GIF at a time.
The first text field is for you to type in emoji while the second one above allows you to send the final message. See image below:
What is classic 25?
The classic way to sign “25” is using handshapes “L” and “5”.
What is classic D?
The classic way to fingerspell the letter “D” is to use only the middle finger on the thumb with the index finger staying up.
How do I allow profanity?
Open the Signily app and click “My Preferences” then you will be able to turn on the profanity toggle or leave it disabled.
Why does it cost 99 cents?
All proceeds will go directly to the emoji project where we can develop official sign language emoji into Unicode. At the moment, it costs $1,500 yearly for ASLized as a nonprofit organization to become an associate member of the Unicode Consortium.
How do I delete a single emoji inside the first text field?
Click the gray delete button as shown below.
How do I delete all emoji at once inside the first text field?
Click the black delete button as shown below.
How do I delete a single emoji inside the second text field?
Click the gray delete button. It will delete both the GIF inside the second text field AND emoji inside the first text field.
How do I delete all emoji at once inside the second text field?
There are two steps for this action. Tap on the screen and click “Select All” then select “Cut”.
How do I use the "Return" button?
After you paste the final message inside the second text field, you can click the return key (see the image below) to break lines before pasting or typing another message.
Why do I have to copy and paste?
We are working around Apple’s limited settings. Since there are no universal sign language emoji available in Unicode, we have to treat them like images. Hence, the best approach is to use the copy and paste method.
Why do my messages get cut on the sides in iMessage?
Tap on the screen twice and you will see the whole message. It is sent as an image. Because of iMessage’s set-up, all images (including ours) will be cut off. Hopefully Apple will improve that area in the near future.
How do I start using Signily?
Switch to Signily
When you have the iOS keyboard up, tap and hold the Globe button to switch to Signily.
Switch to the next keyboard
Tap the Globe button on the Signily keyboard to go to the next keyboard.
How do I know what I am typing?
The first layer is in a QWERTY setting which means you will be able to know what letters you are typing. Be sure to swipe the keyboard to your left for more keys. This also applies to the English version inside Signily.

Why am I required to enable "Allow Full Access"?
Full access is required to send message through Signily. Right after it is enabled, you will be cautioned by iOS as it is the standard warning for all third-party input methods. Signily does not collect nor upload any such personal information to the server. Your privacy is and always will be valued.
What do I get by turning on "Allow Full Access"?
Allowing full access will allow you to customize your preferences for Signily. Custom keyboard apps always require full access in order to sync your preferences to the keyboard extension.
To allow full access, open Apple’s settings by going to General > Keyboard > Keyboards then select “Allow” in the pop-up message.
Will the handshapes and GIFs use up all the storage on my device?
No, they are not stored on your device.
Can I use Signily on my iPod?
How do I find "Paste" after clicking the orange "Copy" button?
Just tap on the screen inside the message twice and “Paste” will show up.
How can I paste emoji and/or GIFs into emails?
You will need to click on “Paste” in a black bubble. Please see our steps.
How do I install Signily Keyboard App?
Open Android’s settings by going to Settings > Language and select “Add Keyboards”.
How do I find "Upload" after clicking the orange "Save" button?
Tap on “Save” and you will see a pop-up message telling you to go to your camera roll to attach your message.
How do I find "Attach file" after saving the image?
Tap on an attachment icon and select “Attach file”.
Will the GIFs use up all the storage on my device?
Since you are required to save and upload, this will use up some storage on your device. This is a currently a technical limitation within Android APIs.
